We Okawa Screw Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is the company with the integrated system of development, manufacturing and sales for automotive various metal parts. Our core products such as a brake hose end fitting is the critical safety parts with strict requirement and standard. We take pride in the fact that our product has been chosen by major auto manufacturers means the value of “Okawa quality”.

The manufacturing technology for metal parts, especially cold forging technology, which gives form to "Okawa Quality" is the greatest strength and unique art of us. Everything started in 1964 when my grandfather Mr. Tomeo Okawa, who is the second generation president, installed a parts-former from the U.S, which was very rare one of a few machines in Japan. Since then Okawa have actively invested and take advantage of machines with innovative function, have developed skillful engineers and have created new technologies and products. This is our ageless DNA of us. Our next vision is that we develop ourselves more to create contribution to our customers and happiness of our employees in pursuit of manufacturing technology and underlying pleasure.

We reach 100th anniversary in the coming year 2034. Looking ahead as a company with 100-year-history, we fucus on more efficiency of the current facilities by automation, sales promotion overseas, adaptation to needs for new markets such as transition to EV, unknown technology and products which will be required in the future. Please expect new technology generated by us as a partner who try new manufacturing together. We promise you to contribute to your business development.

HISTORY

Established - 1960s
1934 Gisaburo Okawa, the first president of the company independently established Oikawa Rashi Seisakusho in Minato-ku, Tokyo.
1943 Reorganized into a joint stock corporation and renamed as Okawa Screw Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
1945 Started trading with Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.
1951 The company's capital was increased to 700,000 yen.
1959 Authorized by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry as a plant to manufacture grease nipples in accordance with Japanese Industrial Standards Labeling Plant (Grant No. 6594).
1963 The company’s capital was increased to 20.4 million yen.
1964 Opened the Yokohama Factory and began production of parts with cold pressure processing to mainly use a parts former manufactured by Waterbury (US).
Began production of bearing shafts for light electrical appliances using multi-spindle automatic lashes from Davenport (US) and Schutte (West Germany).
1965 Began production of automobile brake hose end fittings using a new manufacturing processing method. (Manufacturing patent)
1967 Tomeo Okawa appointed as President. Expanded to a 3rd factory built Kohoku-ku, Yokohama City. Increased the number of Waterbury (US) parts formers.
1970 - 1990s
1973 New Mito Factory (1st phase of construction) built in Omiya Town, Naka-gun (currently Hitachi Omiya city), Ibaraki prefecture.
Established the sister company Toyo Brazing Kogyo Co., Ltd. next to the Mito Factory to streamline production.
1977 Expanded the Mito Factory (2nd phase of construction).
1979 Corporate head office moved from Meguro to Jiyugaoka, Tokyo.
1981 Began use of the Hatebur (Switzerland) AKP4-5 parts former to improve the production system.
1984 Began use of the Hatebur (Switzerland) AKP4-5 parts former. Began use of Sakamura (Japan) FR325 parts former.
1985 With the addition of the brake hose end fitting production line, the monthly production achieved 5 million units.

2000's -
2000 ISO 9002: Acquired certification for the 1994 version of ISO 9002.
2003 Acquired certification for the 2000 version of ISO 9001. Capital increased to 10 million yen.
2005 Expanded to the 3rd plant at the Mito Factory. Acquired certification for the 2004 version of ISO 14001.
2007 Triple-A (AAA) rating awarded by Standard & Poor’s in the Japanese SME ratings. (For the period ended June 2007)
2008 Triple-A (AAA) rating awarded by Standard & Poor’s in the Japanese SME ratings. (For the period ended June 2008)
Acquired certification for the 2008 version of ISO 9001.
2009 THAI OKAWA Co., Ltd. expanded and moved all production to the Rayong province.
Certified as a Shinagawa-ku Eco Green Office. Participated in the activity of Team Minus 6%.
Began the use of Hatebur AKP4-6 parts former.
2011 Launched own brand’s LED solar outdoor lighting "TRUST ONE".
2012 Expanded the 2nd factory at THAI OKAWA Co., Ltd.
Established OKAWA MEXICANA, S.A. de C.V. in the United Mexican States.

QUALITY & ENVIRONMENT INITIATIVES

ISO14001:2008 ISO/TS16949

We have acquired certification of the quality management system (ISO 9001: 2015) and the environmental management system (ISO 14001: 2015), and we are operating an "Environment and Quality Integrated Management System".
In THAI OKAWA (THAI OKAWA Co., Ltd.) and OKAWA MEXICANA (OKAWA MEXICANA, SA de CV), which are overseas production bases, we have acquired ISO / TS16949 certification, an international quality management standard for the automobile industry. We are working to improve our quality management system and product quality.

Integration policy
  • The brake hose end fittings and other precision automobile screw components made by Okawa Screw Manufacturing Co., Ltd. have long contributed to the production of high-performance and high quality automobiles.
    We hereby propose an integrated management system of continuous improvement, whose primary aims are to properly understand and observe all rules, regulations and social obligations, to meet and exceed consumer demands, to achieve customer satisfaction, lower our load on the environment and prevent pollution.
    We have set aims and goals to promote activities that lead to the fulfillment of our integration policy, goals and objectives. A rigorous training program is in place to instill a thorough understanding of our integration policy, its goals and objectives among all our employees. Our environmental activities focus on the following aspects and we address environmental preservation by proposing viable environmental technologies.
